A non-residential centre in Birmingham is offering beginners classes based on a gentle yet powerful form of classical yoga.

The Satyananda Yoga Centre in Kings Heath offers weekly yoga classes and workshops open to anyone new to the tradition regardless of age, fitness, ability or experience.

Ann Fletcher, Director of the Centre said: “I have been practising and teaching in the Satyananda tradition since 1980, I teach different levels of classes according to experience and I love to teach new beginner students.

“The classes are open to anyone who wants to improve their mental, emotional and physical fitness; these practices are particularly valuable for stress reduction.”

The following classes are open to anyone in the West Midlands at the SYC Centre:
• Tuesday evening 7:30 – 9:00pm
• Wednesday afternoon 1:30 – 3:00pm

Ann continued: “I work alongside Sue Friston who has been teaching for 30 years, with emphasis on starting where you are now and slowing down, the systematic practices in the classes prepare the body and mind for further study of yoga and realising an improved quality of life – sometimes almost immediately!”

Sue said: “Our aim is to develop awareness of the breath and the unique relationship between breath, body, mind and emotions”.
