Biography:

I first came to Satyananda Yoga Centre Birmingham in 1987 and have had many occasions to feel grateful for the teaching I received mainly from Swami Satyaprakash and Sn Vimuktananda and the very many other yoga teachers, fellow practitioners, teaching colleagues and students that I have had the good fortune to meet over the past 3 decades.  During this time I also benefited from the teachings and practices of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, including the insights that came from delivering Spiritual Care Modules to healthcare professionals during 2004-06. But it has been the practices of yoga which have nourished me most, giving me the tools I have needed to sustain me through a life time interspersed with difficult patches, emotional upheavals, losses, physical trauma and the ongoing tribulations of an ageing body - a life like any other. I have now been teaching regularly for 5 years, sharing this healing power of yoga with others. Every one of us has limitations but yoga can bring us to our full potential whether we are full of youthful vigour or unable to raise our head from the pillow. Anyone can practice yoga - postures can be adapted and physical limitations acknowledged. I currently teach in Moseley, Kings Heath and Cotteridge, welcoming beginners of all ages and having specialist classes for students debilitated by illness.
